This position is dedicated to the financial management of and
business advisory to the Hillsboro Pharmaceutical Filling and
Packaging and distribution center operations. The Finance Manager is
part of the Product Operations (PROP) Finance group, which is
charged with the financial stewardship of Genentech's PROP
organization.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
Act as process coordinator for planning activities - plan, inform
key stakeholders, and execute the plan/schedule for routine
processes: month-end close, forecasting, budgeting.
Support planning exercises (forecasts, budgets, long-range plans)
for BUs and manage their execution. Includes regular analysis,
reporting, and explanation of production cost for BUs (at least
quarterly)
Engage with operations on activity based costing, specifically
around driving labor/shift structure decisions.
Ensure that BU financial and accounting data and records are
accurate and aligned with principles governing manufacturing plant
operation (GAAP, Genentech Good Operating Principles - GGOP).
Provide decision-support analysis to operational leaders on
BU-specific projects / initiatives. Leverage technical financial
knowledge and available data to ensure analyses are well founded and
thorough.
Provide regular status updates to customers on monthly financial
performance against spending, HC, capital, and Cost of Production
metrics.
Partner with customers to achieve targeted operating costs and
other manufacturing-related financial objectives.
Internal Controls audit activities within the BUs.
Provide guidance in financial modeling and analysis efforts.
Requirements/Qualifications:
BS/BA in finance, economics or accounting
Hands-on experience with financial planning systems
Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and formulating
long-term business plans
Initiates and drives change, improving business processes.
Strong communication and presentation skills and demonstrated
success building partnership across organizational boundaries.

Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for the execution of the Accounts
Receivable (AR) function policies and procedures. More specifically,
there are various diverse needs concerning this function that are
dispersed across many business units. Any one business unit, with
the exception of Subsidy Programs, does not have a sufficient volume
of activity in this area to warrant a full time person dedicated to
the daily management of the administration of the billing and
collection functions. This position provides that full time focus
and professional level monitoring and reporting. It also provides
management with reporting on a variety of corporate billing and
receivable functions.
Essential Functions:
Provide advice and guidance to the various business units in
all aspects of their billings and receivables. Perform daily
hands-on management of the billing and AR functions for the various
business units. Demonstrate accounting skills emphasizing the
nature of receivables and their financial impacts and risks.
Perform the collection and payment posting of the subsidy food
program. Prepare reports, monitor for unusual items and
resolve and/or escalate accounts receivable aging issues.
Respond as needed to government agencies’ inquiries and audits.
Assist in the design, development, obtaining approvals and
implementation of procedures, systems and reports of the AR
function. Serve as the primary knowledge source for statistics
and trends concerning AR. Participate in activities and
workgroups with diverse duties. Monitor and continuously
improve the customer service level of the AR role. Raise
suggestions for the improvements to the billing and payment
processing methodology. Participate in AR change management
and communication across internal and external groups.
Coordinate and manage relationships with other business units as
well as the centers and subsidy field team.
Identify and mitigate the
business risks in the AR area. Serve as the primary liaison
with the business units, IT and corporate accounting for AR related
matters. Work collaboratively with staff members, agency
representatives and centers maintaining a customer service focus.
Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal
communication skills. Demonstrate effective personal
organizational skills. Work within the framework of corporate
policies and procedures. Work independently and resourcefully
