The Portland Chapter of the Institute of
Management Accountants has established a scholarship program which
more effectively directs scholarship funds towards encouraging new
IMA membership and CMA professional growth. The following criterion
identifies those individuals interested in CMA programs and offsets
some of their costs of obtaining certification.
New regular or student members may apply for a scholarship if they
agree to enroll as a new IMA regular or student member and
affiliate with the Portland Chapter and begin an IMA endorsed CMA
study program.
The scholarship provides the following:
Reimbursement of up to $250 for IMA endorsed training materials
and/or class tuition.
Reimbursement of up to $200 for exam entrance fee, or actual fee
paid, which ever is less.
Reimbursement of $140 for every exam part passed, or actual test
fee paid, whichever is less.
Upon successful completion of all 4 parts, the scholarship
recipient receives an additional $100.
Repeat enrollments in one of the four-part study programs or repeat
test fees are not eligible.
If an individual drops out of a CMA study program and receives a
refund, the individual will share the refund with the IMA Portland
Chapter prorated according to the IMA Portland Chapter portion and
the individual’s portion.
In order to fund this program, we will request donations from
members once a year, stipulating donation to a restricted fund for
scholarships.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Review Course
Portland Chapter Institute of Management Accountants
Accountants who are certified earn 27% more than those who are not,
according to Strategic Finance June 2007 salary survey.
The Portland Chapter of the IMA is offering an intensive, sixteen hour
study course for the CMA in April at the special discounted price of
$250.00. This fee includes not only classroom instruction but also the
Gleim study books and CD.
The course will be taught by Mike Lawrence, CMA, CFM, CPA instructor of
accounting at Portland Community College for the past 25 years, using
Gleim study materials and software. The time investment is four Saturdays
in April, from 8 AM to Noon. The course will be taught at Mt Hood
Community College, room 2600, parking is free.
There is no refund once the course begins. The students understand that
this is a review course and no guarantee is given that you will pass the
CMA exam. March 16 is the last day to sign up and turn in money to IMA PDX.
If we do not have sufficient enrollment the class will be cancelled and
monies refunded.
